  1. I’m ahead of you. I deleted my Instagram last year. I was experiencing the same feelings. Thank you for sharing. I just turned 40, married, and mommy of 4 boys. IG was changing and I felt less than.

  2. This vlog was right on time. Appreciate your transparency and agree with your opinion. Thx for sharing. As a content creator, I definitely appreciate your authenticity. I started the new year with deleting a few platforms myself. Blessings to you and yours!

  3. If you are easily influenced you will get lost in the world of social media..most of these people get paid to use the furnitures they paid to use a certain appliance…this particular influencer got paid to do her powder room ..so girl keep on doing what u do and get back into the groove of things …cause I was so waiting on you for your Christmas uploads jia girl..come on…don’t listen to the noise just do u

  4. Girl, YES!!!!! I preach this so much!!! All of social media is now a business. Influencers need people to watch their channels and people want to see perfection. Social media platforms have crossed over from reality to completely fake. Filters on makeup tutorials, houses that don’t looked lived in, but need a complete reset, DIY, cooking from scratch, homesteads that look better than Joanna herself. We sit and scroll these short snips of videos for hours and our brains or overloaded with complete unreal expectations. We can’t differ between what is real and what is fake so our brains just tell us it is all real. I mean, how many times have we heard the phrase, you only put the good on the internet. I hear it, but I don’t process it. The information overload in the context of short videos is literally rewiring our brains. We need to break the cycle, make human connections, show the messy and imperfect, the hurt and the heartache. The ads, the consumerism, the disconnect is ruining our ability to be who God made us to be. Satan is winning by showing us what we think we want, need and desire.

  5. I agree. You can feel like you have to buy the latest thing that social media is hyping up. I’ve come to a place where I only watch social media to be inspired, and if I feel like I’m comparing myself, I will stop watching/following a person. I create content, but I like to keep my content realistic. I only want to attract followers that authentically like my content, so I try to keep everything 100% real.

  6. I definitely understand! I just was talking to my brother about this ! I try to be as realistic and authentic with my content without telling all my business because everything that I’ve seen lately seem so cookie cutter, aesthetically pleasing, selling a dream ,etc. typically with instagram I post and get immediately off . I recently deleted my tiktok although I enjoyed something I did not like that o could not control what was pushed in my face with YouTube I feel like I have more control, If I need inspiration I’m sure I’ll find it on YouTube. I appreciate you making this video .

  7. I found you because I was a working mom trying to figure out how to balance work and life. You were one of the few I found on YouTube doing this. Thank you for being you and being authentic.

  8. I am here to say, of all the you tubers that do meal prep and cooking, you are my favorite. No one can make food look as good as you can.

  9. I’m not sure who these are attributed to, but 2 of my favorite quotes are, “comparison is the thief of joy” and, “Comparison will either make you feel superior or inferior. Neither honors God.” I’m happy that you were able to recognize Instagram was triggering those negative feelings and you took action to change that. I also think it’s wise to keep your daughters away from it. If that influence can make adults feel like that, adolescents are so much more susceptible.

  10. I have followed you for years and the main reason is because you are relatable! I try my best to live by the saying “Comparison is the thief of Joy”. Continue to stay true and authentic to yourself. It’s what many of us appreciate about you and your content. If it does not inspire or motivate or puts me in an “off” headspace, I have zero issues with unfollowing, snoozing and account or keeping scrolling. Thank you for continuing to make great relatable content. ❤

  11. I totally 100 % agree with you. The pandemic sent me home from my corporate career and i got sucked into “cleantok” and the cleaning videos on YouTube and spend two years cleaning, recleaning, purging, painting, rearranging furniture, buying furniture to refurbish, etc. I finally stopped or got a hold on myslef when my father asked me if I was doin git because I wasn’t happy with my home and I realized that I was letting social media tell me I shoULDN”T be happy with my home, but I actually was. So now, I go back to pinterest when I need an Idea or inspiration, but I purged my youtube subscriptoin list down to about 20 people that I find interesting and I don’t do tiktok or instagram at all anymore.

  12. This video is needed. Instagram has changed and it’s getting boring. I also feel like ppl are pressured to feel like they have to buy huge houses, only wear expensive clothes, shoes, handbags, the perfect morning routines, only go on expensive vacations etc.Everyone has the same house, closets and kitchens.

  13. Yes!!! I have done a complete clean out on Instagram and YouTube…January declutter in all areas. I follow positive folks, like you!! My focus is declutter, healthy meals and Walt Disney World. I follow you and Blair Lamb because y’all seem honest, normal, daily life, positivity. I am not a creator and have no desire to be!!!! Instagram is turning into…sales pitches. Thank you for staying true to who you are. Thank you!
