I tried LAUNDRY STRIPPING again…did it work this time?

I'm once again due to the fact that it worked so well the very first time. In this tidy with me, I'm all of our towels in order to get any excess oil and detergents out of them. Did it work? I'm uncertain:/.

  1. The scent you are smelling is a mildew from bacteria build up. I use Clorox or Lysol “laundry sanitizer” on towels, dish towels and athletic clothes. It works. My athletic kids and myself use a new towel daily.

    1. @Sio M. no need to purchase new it’s a mildew. Lysol large bottle went from 9.99 now 13.99. Clorox large bottle 10.99. They work so well the scent will not return. It also works on under garments, sheets everything. I begged my husband to add it to his clothes it has saved our marriage. Put in fabric softener slot. Infact fabric softener covers up the odor-you need to kill the bacteria. Hospital workers and teachers should use a laundry sanitizer.

  2. We have 12 towels and 12 wash cloths for a family of 4. We use our towels 2-3 times before washing. We also only have white towels. I use a little bleach and it seems to keep any sour or mildew smell away.

  3. I would lay off the tide and use a bunch of vinegar. The tide has a bunch of surfactants which help create bubbles. Also, if you can hang the towels out in the bright sun to dry. Thanks for the video!

  4. A dermatologist once told me to never use a towel or washcloth more than once because of dead skin cells not visible to the naked eye adhering to it. So the next time you shower and dry, you’re just rubbing that bacteria back onto your skin. So as a family of 4 we use clean towels and washcloths daily and I just make sure to wash a load every other day.

  5. I do use Clorax sanitizer. I use baking soda too. When Cookie is a 13yrs Pitbull has accidents and after soaking up the urine I put baking soda on it and let it stay there and vaccuum it about an hour. Keith heard you buying towels every 4 days!!! Keith said “No Way”!!! Keith asked “where is Charles”??? Laughing so hard!!! Thank you Jia ❤❤❤ Joan and Keith

  6. I always buy all white towels so I can use hot water and bleach, either Lysol sanitize or vinegar . It sounds like you might be right about you towel not drying fast enough between uses. They are damp for to long and it lets bacteria grow

  7. We have 2 per person and I keep 2 extra for guests. I also wanted to declutter so first I tried putting all but one per person in a storage bin. I quickly learned that we do sometimes need more towels so I adjusted until it was enough that no one needed me to grab another towel from the storage bin. I know that funk smell you mean. When our towels take longer to dry it gives bacteria more time in their perfect environment. Warm and damp. That happens for us when multiple people take a hot shower, if we use our towel twice in the day, or if it’s really humid, or just someone got their towel really wet it just takes forever to dry. So I usually use a new towel if my towel is still damp and let the damp towel hang outside of the bathroom on my laundry hanger until it’s completely dry then it can go in the hamper to be cleaned. I generally change towels every other day and always wash with hot water and a vinegar “softener” and extra rinse. Once a month I soak them in the washer with hot water on the extended cycle with baking soda and then the vinegar softener and an extra rinse. As long as I don’t let the towels sit damp for too long, they don’t get the funk smell. I have an HE machine without an agitator and I feel like sometimes we have to do the extra to make up for that.

  8. This is what I use to wash my towels and wash clothes. I use the regular scented Gain powder, baking soda, and oxy clean powder. If your towels has a mildew smell after washing them, it’s coming from the washer and the washer needs to be cleaned. I had the same issue and I bought the stuff to slean the laundry tub and it helped.

  9. I found Ecos laundry detergent to not clean my laundry. I stopped using it. Definitely use the Lysol sanitizer on your sheets and towels. It sanitizes them and makes them feel softer. I would consider your laundry detergent or a deeper clean of your washer.

  10. Hi Jia, I don’t know if you have had this done or not. But, you mentioned your dryer and running 2 cycles. I had the same issue and last year called a company and had them come out and blow out my dryer vent. WOW!! What a differnce it made. I have never tried this method before and watched your first video on “stripping” as well. I said then I was going to try it 2 years later and… here we are. I am going to give it a whirl this time for sure . Love your channel!!

  11. We have 2 towels per person, so 8 in rotation. I also keep 4 newish towels for guests. The smell is from them not drying in between showers. Once they are washed and dryed the smell goes away for us. I also use plant based detergent. We wash after 2 or 3 uses, and hang flat to dry between showers. I would recommend a new wash cloth everyday. Some people swear by white towels so they can bleach them. I don’t find a difference.

  12. I can tell you why you still have that smell in your clothes. It’s the vinegar you put in the wash after you did all that soaking. You have to remember, vinegar is used for pickling. That smell will be in your towels or anything else that is porous. Vinegar is great for cleaning veggies, raw meat, etc. But not for clothes. It will always be embedded in the fabric since the fabric is porous. Hope that helps

  13. I’ve been told that vinegar will slowly corrode the inner workings of your machine so hopefully it’s not that. I only use vinegar for my towels once in a while cause if that. Maybe also have your dryer vents cleaned and dry your towel after your morning shower.

  14. Hi Jia! I find color towels smell sour really easy. I only buy white towels. I’m able to bleach or use white vinegar to get that crisp smell and not feel like there is a build up. Try phasing out those color towels for white towels.
