  1. The price change has affected my Dollar Tree shopping. I used to just throw things in my cart becayse “its just a dollar” now I buy probably half if not less items when I go.

  2. I was an avid DT shopper for years but the price increase does have me looking at price per ounce more than previously. The things I will continue to buy are the spice blends. I am able to try new flavors at a smaller cost before I buy a big container from the grocery store.

  3. Thanks for sharing. I am less inclined to shop at Dollar Tree now. Last year, Dollar Tree revenue was 25 billion (BILLION!!!), and the price increases were supposed to go to pay employees more and better products, but neither has happened…it’s so shady.
I’ve found that Big Lots has some of the same brands at their original $1 price point, and you can stock up during one of their 20% off days.

  4. Jia, I have not been to a Dollar Tree in along time partly due to the quality of the items a lot of the items are just junk. When you go to local grocery store or Walmart to get the same item and most of the time made better. I do not buy the toys, snack items or beauty products anymore at the Dollar Tree due to the cost and quality of the items are just not there anymore it is kinda sad.

  5. I got the small 4 pack of tissue to have in the bathroom while we move. Poo spray do work well.

  6. 25% increase is ridiculous! I think the items that are “worth” the 1.25 will gradually move to the “Deluxe Aisle”!

  7. The Wescott scissors are well worth it because they cost way more every where else. The barbie blind bags and any of the barbie accessories are also worth it. My store carries the larger sizes in the softsoao, dial, and some name brand ones that you can find at target for 4 or 5 dollars.

  8. I am totally disgusted by the price increase and have scaled way back from shopping at the Dollar Tree. Actually, Walmart has the same items for the same price so most cases there is no need to even go to the $1.25 Tree.

  9. I love getting coloring/reading books from dollar tree for my son. Some stuff just isn’t worth buying now that they have increased the price.

  10. I’ve definitely been going to Dollar Tree a lot less. I did do a cost comparison for tissues, and Aldi and Trader Joe’s tissues are now just as expensive (both used to be under $1). I also checked the candy prices at Walmart and they are basically the same as Dollar Tree now. Now it seems like convenience (and less driving) are just as important as price. Shopping is getting depressing.

  11. A 6.5 fl. oz. bottle of Dawn is 97 cents at Walmart. The Great Value version of Awesome is 98 cents. Now I’m thinking about each item before I purchase it. I really like buying Tom of Maine Prebiotic Moisturizing Hand Soap (12 fl.oz). This product is worth $1.25. It was available from January thru March.

  12. Great content! Honestly, it raises the stakes for me to make better finance videos. Keep it up and have a great day!

  13. Thank you for making this! 25% was too much and so ridiculous. Definitely don’t go there as much anymore. Really disappointed in dollar tree.

  14. Dollar General still has a $1 aisle with many of the cleaning and household items. They have air fryer sheets on amazon large package lasts for many months and a better option than foil.

  15. Yup, most items Dollar Tree carries can be found at Walmart for $1 or less. I never used to shop at Walmart, because Dollar Tree is so convenient, but I’ve mostly switched over now (though I prefer Target when I don’t need to pinch pennies). Every few months I’ll grab the few good deals Dollar Tree still has.

  16. Also, I buy a lot of dried fruit from there. We dont eat a ton of it in one go, so the smaller size is nice. Plus it has been hard to find lately at my Walmart and Meijer.

  17. I’m OK with the increase and their reasoning for it. Some items they discontinued because they could no longer afford to keep on the shelves at that price and now they can bring them back. It also allows them to give their employees a raise. Can’t knock them for wanting to do better by their staff…
