Why is marriage important? We sat down to ask Marriage Assistant CEO, Kimberly Beam Holmes, and her husband Rob, and this is what they had to say.
" I believe that marital relationship is very important because the household institution has shown itself over millennia. In America, in more recent years, we have actually kind of disregarded that and we've enabled that to just fall by the wayside and become unimportant and we're starting to see the results of that on Society.
I think that if we can strengthen families and enhance family units which I think starts with a structure, a solid foundation of strong marriages that we can truly assist America and it's not political in my viewpoint it's simply people living happier lives.
I believe that there are 10s of millions of kids out there in single family or single moms and dad homes that want they had 2 moms and dads. Which's not to be judgmental toward anyone that's simply to say when you understand Daddy was never ever there to start with or dad was there for a few years then he left or whatever the scenarios may be that's ravaging to the majority of children. So I believe that not simply for kids however for individuals. People live longer, they're happier and research has repeatedly shown over time that if you have a strong marital relationship organization within a nation, people live longer they're much healthier, they're happier." -Rob Holmes
" I would include that I believe marriage is necessary since it's the method we were designed to be in life; with someone else. There are individuals who pick single-hood, which is terrific, but then there are individuals who they are made to be in relationship with someone else and it's not that marital relationship makes us entire but it's that marital relationship is what teaches us how to enjoy better how to live better and how to have an effect beyond ourselves. it's what results in Generations it's what results in family Legacy.
It's what gets us out of our selfish frame of mind of life is everything about me and turns us to the other's state of mind of, no, life isn't just about my happiness, it's about others it has to do with my partner it has to do with my kids. It's about creating a generational Legacy. And then from the marriage, teaching the children how to live, how to grow up, how to love other individuals, and then it ends up being a cycle of love."

Marriage is hard. Being selfless non stop is not easy when that’s not reciprocated. Forgiving over and over again is the key. I’m learning how to do this myself.
We agree 100%! Marriage is not easy. But the work is worth it! Thanks for sharing your journey with us! We are here for you!
Yes indeed. Once your spouse stops being merciful and forgiving and hardens their heart, it is so difficult to see that selfishness and pursuit of their quest for “happiness” take over as they walk away from the marriage covenant they promised to cherish between you and God.

Marriage is the best personal development system ever created…if we let it be.
Well said
I don’t have a marriage and a family anymore. The choice was made for me. I tried but my husband still left me.
I totally understand. My wife did the same thing to me knowing I wanted to work and do anything possible to keep the marriage intact.

Broken marriages are devastating to children regardless of their ages.
Sad, but true. We’ve seen it time and time again.
I totally understand. Was married for 27-plus years before my wife decided it was all about her happiness and handed me divorce papers. It is heartbreaking when you wanted to build a family legacy and see it shattered over someone else’s selfishness when you knew in your heart that, with God’s help, things could have changed for the better.

I love that you guys are for marriage sad to see that people just don’t value things anymore and everything is disposable especially for women they love with conditions and men love unconditionally and that really how it is now
Thanks for commenting! You’d be surprised to find that actually men and women generally respond the same way to the same actions. People want out of a marriage because they don’t feel liked, loved or respected. Men and women can want out of a marriage for the same reasons, and it normally doesn’t favor one gender over another. It’s all dependent on how that person perceives they are being treated! Thanks for commenting friend! And so sorry to hear you are going through this. We are here for you!!
Thank you for your response and all you guys do for marriages I learn a lot from just your videos and podcasts
Marriage is important because God made it for us. Marriage was designed so that we can have children. Marriage is all about love. So is God
We agree! We also love to just share the empirical research around the institution of marriage because the facts are astonishing. But yes! Marriage is all about love. Thank you for commenting Willie! Blessings,
