Our live caller explains: My partner left, but she left based on incorrect understandings. For instance, she thought I was having an affair when I am not having an affair. And, when I ask her about the false perceptions, she doesn't want to speak about it …

… and she does not wish to come back home, although we set "borders" together in advance.

Dr. Joe Beam asks this caller, "Does your partner thinks you're managing her?" The caller reacts, "Yes, however I do not think she has a right understanding."

Dr. Joe Beam asks this caller to evaluate the following expressions he uses with his spouse. First, he tells his wife she "is not comprehending things properly." Second, he informs his other half she "should not feel a certain method." Dr. Joe Beam asks this caller to think about how these phrases might make his partner feel like she's incorrect, and that he does not comprehend her.

Dr. Joe Beam advises this caller to listen. Even if he believes his spouse is wrong, she still requires to feel heard. That is, if this caller truly wants to open up communication with his better half, she needs to understand he's really hearing what she feels.

If individuals do not feel comprehended, and can't protect themselves, they can start to pull further away. So if you remain in this scenario and want your partner to come back, a good skill is to LISTEN to your spouse, attempting to UNDERSTAND how your spouse feels. This is the kind of technique that can have an impact.
